Uncertainty is the only guaranteed certainty we have in life.
So it's been quite ironic to hear the phrase "these uncertain times" somewhat exhausted in the past couple of years.
Uncertainty can naturally bring a lot of discomfort. But when we focus solely on this discomfort we neglect to see the gifts beneath it.
Because each time it presents itself, uncertainty opens the door to two pivotal possibilities: receiving and deciding.
Receiving
Uncertainty holds so many opportunities for us to be receptive to possibility.
The unknown brings inspiration, creativity, intuitive guidance and unexpected potential - if we’re open to it.
And when we allow ourselves to be receptive to uncertainty, we become available to any and all of this possibility.
Deciding
In uncertainty we also find the opportunity to choose and decide.
A path that isn’t set-in-stone gives us room to consider and reflect, and to choose to move towards the direction that feels truly right for us.
It's a chance for us to seek perspective, and find the clarity we may have been missing all along.
Curiosity
When uncertainty opens a door, you get to choose not to see it as chaos or inconvenience.
Instead, you get to choose to move through it with curiosity, openness and receptivity.
Resist the urge to try to 'fix' things and rush for answers. Trust that this just might be an opportunity for course-correction; for things to work out better than you could have originally planned or anticipated.
Let go and remember that leading with curiosity is often much more powerful than leading with full certainty.
I share more about developing self-awareness and staying grounded in the face of challenges here.
